| PFLUGERVILLE, Texas -- The Pflugerville junior varsity and freshmen Gold (A) squads remain undefeated in play at the three-day Panther Freshmen and JV Tournament taking place Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 2-4 at Pflugerville HS and middle schools. The Panther JV team will play for the JV division championship on Saturday evening. Coach April Ellickson's squad is the defending champions, and will meet Vista Ridge at 6:30 p.m. at the Panther Gym in the title game. The Panther freshmen Gold squad will square off against Georgetown, also at 6:30 p.m. (small gym court), for the Freshmen Tournament title. The freshmen Gold team faced the Panther freshmen Blue (B) team in the semifinals on Friday night, winning 53-31. The Pflugerville freshmen Blue squad (B team) will play for third-place in the division at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Their opponent is Temple. In the game between the two Pflugerville freshmen teams, the Gold squad was led by Ariana Marks (12 points) and got 11 points apiece from Jaden Strum and Kalea King. The Blue team received 10 points from Aislyn Orji. In earlier freshmen games Friday, the Panther Gold team defeated Austin, 69-26, while the Blue team topped Westlake, 46-22. Strum had 14 points and seven rebounds and Kiara Sloan added 11 points in the win over Austin. In the Blue team's victory over Westalke, Orji and Sam Olivares each scored 12 points while Stephanie Onyeje had 11 points and 12 steals. |
