AUSTIN, Texas-- Senior post Itiana Taylor logged another double-double by scoring 16 points and pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds to lift state-ranked Pflugerville to a 54-27 victory over Cedar Ridge Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Bowie Tournament. Pflugerville, now 15-0, will face District 16-5A opponent Stony Point in the tournament's 8:30 p.m. championship game Saturday night at Bowie High School.
The Panthers are 4-0 in the tourney. Cedar Ridge and Leander will meet in the third-place game at 5:30 p.m.
Taylor has nine double-doubles (double figure points and rebounds) in the first 15 contests. She also had a game-high six steals against Cedar Ridge. Junior guard Taylor Ross added 10 points and five steals, while junior post Jaden Sturm had eight points.
Down 6-4 to start the game, the Panthers regained the lead with a 10-run to close out the quarter and never trailed again. P'ville led 28-11 at intermission.
The Panthers are looking for their second consecutive tournament victory. P'ville earned the Greater Austin Tournament title last weekend. |
