Posted Jan 13/12 - No. 2 ranked Pflugerville posts 52-30 win over District opponent Leander to move to 30-0
PFLUGERVILLE, Texas- No. 2 state-ranked Pflugerville continued its undefeated streak with a 52-30 victory over District 16-5A opponent Leander Friday at the Panther Gym. Behind a game-high 16 points from junior forward Diana Omozee and a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double effort from senior forward Itiana Taylor, the Panthers move to 30-0. Pflugerville remains alone in first place in the district at 6-0.
The Panthers jumped out to a lead of 25-12 at intermission behind Omozee and Taylor who both had eight first-half points and five rebounds in the first half. They were the only Panthers to finish in double-figure scoring.
Leander, which committed 19 turnovers, is now 16-12 overall and 3-3 in district action.
Pflugerville returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 17 when it faces District 16-5A opponent Round Rock in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Round Rock.
Pflugerville JV and Freshman squads also pick up wins --------------------------------------------------------------------
The Panther JV squad improved to 23-0 with a 59-20 win over the Leander JV behind a trio of sophomore double-figure scorers - post Makyndra Simmons (17 points), post Tiara Pitts (13 points) and forward Ariana Marks (12 points).
The Panthers' freshman Gold (A) squad won 60-21 over the Leander frosh behind a game-high 25 points from guard Alyssa Washington and six fromguard Desiree Washington. The Panther Gold squad is now 18-2.
