In sweltering heat on both sat, sun Portland lost 11-10 sat to the cinci chiefs then won 4-1. the rockets built a 6-1 lead and starter mitch waters was cruising but a bizarre 7 run 4th inning proved to be the difference. Billy wellmans first game catching. Justin Marrero homered in the contest. The chiefs featured 2 former pro players one of them 36 year old Jamie spottz from ball state and a former rocket 15 years ago. The game ended with the tying run at 3rd base but 2 strikeouts ended the threat. Manager jeff Hannah noted he has coached for 28 years and mitch waters is one of the top 5 competitors he has ever seem

Game one rockets win 3-0 in an hour 23 min over the cinci cobalts record now 9-2…..dan bollenbacher rocket ace was one sweaty dude,,,,but a winner no less. Dan went all 7 inn in 86 pitches allowing but one hit

Sat game at roselawn park did bring to mind a 2009 flashback and a josh ludy story., In the nabf regional, Portland defeated the chiefs behind nick bruns to advance to the championship game sun vs. the Detroit jet box.. a Sunday game in summer heat and I was astonished to find out that morning our catcher josh ludy still conducted his regular grueling P90 workout… his manager me was not really thrilled with the kid having worked out before the game but I have to hand it to josh----hard work beats talent that doesn’t work hard
