Nationally-ranked Pflugerville will begin its 2013 UIL state playoff competition on Monday, Feb. 11 when the Panthers host Lake Travis in a Region II Bi-District game. The game will have a 7 p.m. start. The Panthers carry a 33-0 record into the contest and are the District 16-5A champions, finishing 12-0 in district action. It was Pflugerville's 23rd district title in history and its eighth district championship in the last 10 years.
Lake Travis is 9-18 and placed fourth in District 15-5A behind first-place Anderson, runnerup Bowie and Westlake. The other three teams from P'ville's district advancing to the playoffs are runnerup Stony Point, Cedar Ridge and Westwood.
Pflugerville also has earned 24 Bi-District championships, including nine in a row (from 2004-12).
Earlier this season, P'ville defeated Lake Travis in the Pflugerville Invitational, 63-20, on November 29.
The Pflugerville-Lake Travis winner advances to Area Round competition and will face the winner of the Klein Forest-Lufkin bi-district game. Area round games take place from February 14-16. Klein Forest (22-6) was runnerup in District 13-5A while Lufkin (22-8) tied for second in District 14-5A.
