The nationally-ranked Pflugerville Panthers will face Houston Klein Forest in a Region II second round (Area game) of the 2013 UIL State playoffs. The game will take place at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station (directions below) and will have a 7 p.m. start. The Panthers stand 34-0 on the year while Klein Forest is 23-6. In the final regular season Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC)/Tex Preps Basketball Top 25 rankings, Pflugerville ranked second and Klein Forest No. 23 among the 5A teams.
The District 16-5A champions, Pflugerville defeated Lake Travis, 87-24, in the Bi-District round on February 11. Pflugerville clinched its 25th Bi-District championship in program history and its 10th in a row.
Klein Forest is 23-6 after defeating Lufkin, 50-33, in Bi-District action also on February 11. The Eagles tied for second in District 13-5A with a 13-3 mark. They shared the second-place finish with Klein Collins as Dekaney (16-0) earned the district title.
The Pflugerville-Klein Forest winner advances to the State Region II quarterfinals next week (date and time TBA) to face Bowie High School from Austin. The Bulldogs (20-12) upset the state's No. 14 ranked The Woodlands (28-8), 56-50 on Feb. 14 in Area round play. All regional quarterfinals games take place on February 18 or 19.
