Nationally-ranked Pflugerville will make its 15th UIL Regional Championship Game appearance when it meets state-ranked Spring Dekaney in the UIL 5A Region II final (Final Eight) at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23. The 5A Region II semifinals and title game are taking place at Baylor University's Ferrell Center.
A berth to the State 5A Final Four State Tournament in Austin is at stake with the Pflugerville-Dekaney showdown. Pflugerville stands 37-0 and is ranked in the top 25 in all national high school polls, while Dekaney is 34-3. Both teams had closely contested Regional semifinal contests, with Pflugerville edging Plano West 64-63 and Dekaney stopping Dallas Skyline by three, 48-45.
This marks the 15th time in program history that Pflugerville had reached the regional finals and is the fifth time since 2005 that the program has advanced to the Regional Finals, also playing in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Pflugerville has advanced to the State Tournament (Final Four) six times, the last being in 2009.
