Rockets go 2-1 on weekend, win 2 over harley brandt sat 8-4 12-1 , lose sun 6-0 to summit city sluggers,  june 10, 2013
 
Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland.  Portland rockets won 2 of 3 games this weekend, sweeping a DH from harley brandt and losing to the summit city sluggers.  Sat the rockets took 2 from keith shepards Wabash club 8-4 and 12-1.  home opener tyler Reynolds pitched 4 innings striking out 6 , 0 hits just one baserunner erased on a pick off---tyler faced the minimum number of hitters. Best outing of the year.  Rockets broke open a close 3-1 game in the 5th scoring 5 times/  sports editor ray cooney pointed out Dalton tinsley had 3 hits in the contest and was on base 7 out of 8 times. Dalton gentry, jon keesling, aaron paschal also pitched in the game.
Dan haines who ruled in the press box as public address announcer for 8 yrs. Passed the mic over to Donald gillispie, Samantha thomas and tyler’s dad tony Reynolds all pitched in.  
Very fine crowd on hand and included lots of what I call fun people, Vicki tague and her golf cart chauffeer, chris hearn, paul minnich, jc wells, and you know, one may gain much knowledge when visiting with one david lyons,  he shared his pictures of last years visit of the collet billy goats, tom and dick Nixon. 
Game 2 rockets route 12-1 mitch waters matched Reynolds going 4 innings striking out 8 giving up 4 hits 1 run.  Mitch also went big fly and as he rounded third he had a nice exchange with keith Shepard –mutual respect I would say for 2 older guys that know the game ---big fly times 2 zach tanner hit a bomb that landed past the flag pole in left center.
Zach mentioned that the shot was better than those from Rodney miles potato gun.  Wow, the reds have the banana phone, but we have the potato gun.
Chris miller, ben smith also had 2 hits in the game, junior santos finished up on the mound. 
Sunday the rockets participated in the summit city sluggers cancer awareness event, in the featured game of the day, the sluggers defeated the rockets 6-0.  5 runs in the 1st inning on 2 hits the undoing. Eathan daggett takes the loss,  Portland had only 3 hits.  But what a cool event, tom mccowan received a special pink shirt for Stephanie mccowan and coach mark delagarza we thank you for our invite,  ex rockets Justin brannock, Cameron brannock, ryan shell, coach mark flueckiger, even coach lea selvey in the house.  Nice work at ss by jay county’s kyle selvey. 
Rockets wrapped up the week going 4-2  6 games in 7 days.  Thanks for all the help doug and Stacey blankenbaker---thanks for helping in the lunching pad, karley emerick, and always helping angie mann, thanks Portland our 53rd season,,,and as I told ryan myers,
People come to a rocket game and they see fans in the stands,  they surmise that this Portland town must be pretty big. And they are right
Take the challenge, rockets tues at 630 host the ohio warhawks, one of the toughest teams on our schedule every year,   they beat us more times than not.  We counter with dan bollenbacher, junior santos from texas, and Dylan brammer of south bend maybe a bit of mitch waters.
