Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland.  When the one great scorer comes to mark against your name, he asks not if you won or lost, but did you beat ft. wayne.  Portland rockets jumped to a 7-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, defeating harley brandt 17-1 Thursday nite at Carrington field ft. wayne. 
Rocket offense amassed 19 hits  by 10 different players ---zach tanner and ben smith led the attack with 3 hits each, logan hug, mitch waters, geoff bowers, Thomas mccowan and chris miller all had 2 hits.  Lead off hitter Dalton tinsley , 4 walks and a triple, This offense would have given the Miami heat a run for their money ---just ask nba self=proclaimed expert mitch waters.    Not too shabby after a week off---apologies, no baseball in Portland last weekend  as the Chicago team who came down last year, backed out.  
Coach rob fornier Wabash valley jr college was on hand checking out rocket hurlers nick mccoy, Dalton gentry, travis gray, Quinton smith and Dylan brammer.  The Wabash valley coach recalls former players bill geeslin and dan bollenbacher. 
Rocket pitchers limited the Harleys to 3 hits striking out 9. Portland had 18 players on hand thrusday nite, none in as good a shape as duane sautbine.  Say duane uptown and he looks like the old shortstop of yesteryear.  
Side note: congrats to jay county ss kyle selvey for being selected for area code tryouts, quite an honor. 
Portland returns to ft wayne this evening, 7 pm Carrington field vs. ft wayne expos. They will be a tougher club you can bet, their best pitcher is on the mound. Portland will counter with junior santos who comes from lima but hails from texas.  
Then the rockets return home for a big weekend 1 pm doubleheaders sat and sun. 
Hope about this ----a picnic at the park!! We thank our friends at progressive office products and pharon parr for brat day ---they cook em, we eat em. This is a great opportunity to come and check out the boys of summer----Saturday  1pm DH  vs ft wayne orioles bollenbacher, waters the starters.  
Portland rockets record now 7-4 and a big weekend in store ft wayne tonnite,  brat day with progressive Saturday,  another DH sun.
