FIRST PERIOD
It was a penalty filled night at Southdale arena. Riels capitalized five times throughout the game.
Canucks got two of their own. One goal only in the first period that was on the power play at 18:58 when
Brian Dies gained the zone deep, cycled to Charette back to Dies and then fed Trudeau high in the slot,
sniping a shot through traffic beating net minder Erik Swar, top cheddar. No chance.
The period ended 1 – 0 Riels with Canucks outshooting Riels 11 – 7.
SECOND PERIOD
The Riels scored at 4:28 on the power play when Russell Trudeau finished off a nice passing play from
Brian Dies and Travis Ziprick. The Canucks leading scorer Cam Fehr got the visitors on the board with
assists coming from Antonyshen and Miller. Then at 6:05, Riels took a double minor penalty. Again Cam
Fehr scored on the power play at 6:59 to make it 2 – 2 with assists from Antonyshen and Dyck. Thirty-
three seconds later, still on the power play, Tyler Arnason scored from the Canucks with assists coming
from Lockhart and Winchar. Just like that Canucks took the lead 3 – 2.
Riels kept on pressing to get the equalizer. The hard work and winning battles payed off as the Canucks
took another penalty. Then at the end of the power play at 12:23, Brian Michiels tapped in his 10th
year with assists coming from Trudeau and Charette. That tied it at 3 apiece.
At 17:23, Cam Fehr knotted his 3rd of the period from Arnason and Gallaher. That ended the period 4 – 3
Canucks after 2. Shots on goal were deadlocked at 13 – 13.
The Canucks took full advantage of the second period getting to the Riels, intimidating them, drawing
costly penalties and then scored 4 goals to take the lead.
THIRD PERIOD
The coaching staff of the Riels was not happy with what they seen in the second frame. So the top team in
the league decided to get back and play some smart hockey in the third.
Brian Michiels scored his 11th goal of the year on the power play at 5:51 with assists from Ryan Wilgosh
and Glen Young. That made it 4 -4.

and Brian Dies.
The Riels tallied one more time at 12:46 when Brian Dies scored his 9th of the season and his 4th point of
the evening with assists coming from Trudeau and Charette. The line of Trudeau, Charette and Dies has
tallied 22 points in the last 2 games played.
Goal tender Kyle Vandemosselaer settled in well in the third period after having a tough second. Kyle
came up with some key saves at the right time to allow the Riels to win their 14th game of the year
Canucks outshot Riels 13 -10 of the third and 37 -30 overall.
