Posted Nov 16/13 - Twins Out Last Riels In OT

FIRST PERIOD

Twins scored 1st at 8:07 when Nick Doyle put a shot past Riels netmider Connor Bell with assists coming from Acheson and Fernando.

Riels tied it up when Brian Dies scored his 11th of the season with assists from Trudeau and Charette at 10:20.  Twins forward Matt Wilson scored at 11:11 unassisted to make it 2-1 Twins.

The Twins played hard winning a lot of battles in the first and outshooting the Riels 11-9.

 

 

SECOND PERIOD
There was no scoring.  It was a fast paced game end to end.  Good goaltending on both ends.  Shots were even at 13-13.

 

 

THIRD PERIOD

Riels came out flying, working the puck down how in the offensive zone and directing a lot of pucks to the net.  It finally paid off at 4:57 when captain Michael Gorrie scored his 15th goal with assists coming from Sean Christensen and Glen Young.  That tied it at 2-2.

Then Nick Doyle scored his 17th of the year at 11:46 with an assist coming from Matthew MacLennan to give the lead 3-2 back to the twins.

Riels kept pressing when Glen Young found the back of the net at 16:21 to tie it at 3-3 with assists coming from Sean Christensen and Michael Gorrie.  That’s how it ended after regulation.  The Riels outshot the Twins 14-12 after three.

 

 

OVERTIME

Fort Garry wasted no time at the 1:02 mark; forward Nick Doyle knotted his third of the evening.  Just stepping across the Riels blue line using defensemen Travis Ziprick as a screen and fired a high shot past Riels net minder Connor Bell for the win.

The Twins well deserved their victory tonight.  They skated well and made good decisions throughout the game.  Twins goalie Tyler Dodd played pretty solid with Twins outshot Riels 39-36.

 

 

THREE STARS

First star Sean Christensen, second star Connor Bell and third star Artur Raevskiy.
