Due to icy conditions and school delays in the Central Texas Region, there will be a two-hour delay in starting the Friday, Dec. 6 competition at the Pflugerville Girls Basketball Invitational Tournament taking place at Pflugerville High School. Competition will begin at 10 am Friday morning, not 8 am as originally planned.
The three-day tournament features varsity, junior varsity and freshman tourney brackets. Play began on Thursday; pool play continues on Friday before moving into the championship rounds; on Saturday, the tournament concludes. All games are being played at Pflugerville High School's gymnasiums.
In the varsity tournament, the state-ranked Pflugerville Panthers improved to 11-2 with two victories in Thursday's pool play. The Panthers defeated Lake Travis (75-27) and a team from Austrailia, the South Australia County Red (66-47). On Friday, Pflugerville concludes pool play against Concordia Lutheran with an approximate start time of 2 pm, due to the weather delays.
The varsity tournament features eight teams. In addition to Pflugerville, Lake Travis, South Australia County Red and Concordia Lutheran, the other four squads include Round Rock Stony Point, Dallas Skyline, Pflugerville Connally and a second Australian team, South Australia County Blue.
