Riels 9 vs Vics 2 Tues. January 31, 2014
FIRST PERIOD
Riels opened the scoring at the 8:45 mark when Brock Bram scored his 2nd of the season with assists coming from Brett Charette and Stanislav Izvekov. Then 27 seconds later Mark Sharman sniped his 3rd of the season beating Nolan Brya high top shelf with assists coming from Travis Ziprick and Michael Gorrie. Then at 12:04, Brian Dies scored his 25th of the season with helpers coming from Brett Charette and Stanislav Izvekov. That made it 3-0 Riels. The Vics got on the board at 14:51 when Justin Tremblay scored his 9th of the season on the power play unassisted. That ended the 1st period 3-1 Riels. The Riels outshot the Vics in the 1st period 13-8.
SECOND PERIOD
Riels opened the second period strong when league leader Brett Charette scored is 23rd of the season at 1:39 with assists going to Brian Dies and Stanislav Izvekov. This life tonight was unstoppable. At the 8:08 mark, Stanislav Izvekov scored his 8th of the season with assists coming from Brett Charette and Brian Dies. The Riels were not finished. Matt Wilson scored at 16:40 with an assist going to Artur Raevskiy. Riels lead was 5-1 after two periods. Riels net minder Kyle Vandemosselaer was solid in the pipes for the Riels. The shots were 14-13 Riels after the second.
THIRD PERIOD
Riels Matt Wilson potted his 17th of the season and second of the night on the power play with assists coming from Brett Charette and Brian Dies. Riels lead was 7-1. Vics Kris Melna beat Riels net minder Vandemosselaer at 7:22 with assists coming from Angus and Levesque. Then just over a minute later, veteran forward Glen Young finished off a nice play, his 16th of the season with assists coming from Brock Bram and Ryan Wilgosh.
Riels forward, Stanislav Izvekov scored his 9th of the season and his second of the night at 19:51 with assists coming from Brian Dies and Brett Charette. Riels beat the Vics 9-2. The line of Brian Dies, Brett Charette and Stanislav Izvekov tallied for 16 points tonight. The Riels outshot the Vics 12-10 in the 3rd and 39-31 overall.
That was the Riels 32nd win of the season and that ties the Riels single season record. Come out to see the highflying Riels on Tuesday February 4th at 7:30 at home-Southdale CC to break the record for their 33rd win.
