Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland.  On the day it did not rain, a gorgeous tues summer evening at taylor university, the Portland rockets played baseball .

Just not the brand of baseball we are accustomed to .  they play nine inn, and we played pretty well for 8, twin city bankers 6 portland rockets 4, 

Get off the bus gus, opening inn. Rockets score single by dalton tinsely, and double by jegan millspaugh up 1-0

Starter jimmy west from Dayton, a big strong righthander walked 2 hit one and this in just the first inn, throw the ball catch the ball, we didn’t accomplish this fundamental and a dropped ball at first base allowed 2 runs, 5 in the inn.  After a debacle of a 1^st inn, a 5-1 bankers lead

This big hole dug after a 30 min inn. Was just too big and bankers win 6 4, they own 2 wins over Portland in 3 games, rockets now record 8-2

The boys were not overmatched, just could not get the big hit,  we stranded 9 base runners, out hit the opposition 9 to 4,  but they always made the big defensive play when needed; 

In fact, Brandon reamon who homered on Sunday, drove 2 balls to the fence tues, and was robbed of extra bases both times, reamon still had 2 hits as did Dalton tinsley ,tj lindstrand, and millspaugh. Rocket scored in 4 different inn,  but could never get more than one.  Kyle Selvey also had a single.

West settled in and pitched 4 inn, took the los 3 hits walked 3 and hit 3 batters,

On a bright note, autin branock pitched 3 shutout inn, 0 walks, 0 hits,

Craig martin finished up and looked strong,

Branock and his bethel college teammate colin Affolder return from their mission trip to the Dominican republic.  Good to have those guys back.

2 hours 39 min for this titanic struggle, and we fired the pitching coach, one inning our undoing,  as the not so wise manager told em,  “if you get em in,  we will get them out”

Did not get it done

Good rocket following in upland  I hoped they made it to ivanhoes.\

Rockets still a good baseball team, lose 6-4,

Kinda like I heard soothsayer chris hearn say, like a one legged man, in  a round house looking for a place….;. never mind

Rocket road trip…… always a fun time ….south bend for 4 games sat, sun at kennedy park\

Sat. dh Mishawaka brewers,  sun dh south bend cardinals,

Starters waters, bollenbacher, Reynolds and martin.

Rockets now 8-2
