Aug. 3 2015 nabf regional results from Kankakee

Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland.  The boys of summer have concluded their season. Dag nabbit silly rabbit, mission incomplete. Rockets lose in tournament play two times to winning just once and the season ended. 

Rockets have earned berths to regionals since 1985, I was on that team with the dull boys, neunschwander, maggard, flick, duback, selveck, duback, Selvey, bultemeirer, overmeyer.  We went to Dayton.
this is the first time we ever went to Kankakee Illinois.  Rockets go 1-2

I drove over 800 miles this week. Wow

Rockets just could not complete their mission, unlike a week ago when they won the world baseball congress championship.

Every rocket had a flaw in his game at one point or another, every one. Coach included.

Not championship caliber, not sugar coating it  should have know after a bird dropping soiled our new scorebook.

Rockets lost thurs to Chicago angels,  dan bollenbacher had a 4-0 lead in the 4^th  but we could not hang on, lose 6-4 in the last inn.  Billy geeslin took  the loss. The angel pitcher was last year playing in the pros, AAA  white sox

Game 2 facing elimination and the defending champion and host club, the beecher muskies.  We faced them in buffalo in the nabf world series  they have been there 11 of 13 times, make that 14, rockets knocked out the muskies, big win 4-2

Mitch waters goes 5 1/3 inn 4 hits 1 run and 3 ks,  bill geeslin big relief appearance, Justin Marrero hits a key triple off the top of the 380 sign and scores the insurance run.

Rockets one more chance on aug first, but it is not to be

This one belongs to the Michigan city lakers, Reynolds goes 4 inn giving up 3

Rockets strand 9 runners, well it would have been 10 but one was picked off 1^st inn from second base to quell that threat.  Rockets lose 6-4 to end season. Record 20-8

In the tournament Dalton tinsley offensive leader 6 for 11` 3 hits each for geeslin, alex delk, Marrero, Brandon reaman,

Team went 23 for 79 a quite respectable .291ave.
rockets  had a17 in the Portland dugout and earned the respect of all in the tournament,

We did not play the Joliet dirtbags or Chicago thurnder,  lakers defeat Joliet in finals 15-3  to advance to world series in battle creek

Strange year, but the core players have all said they are returning to do baseball business next year.
