June 27, 2016 rockets take 2 of 3 in south bend

Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland.  Since the midseventies

The Portland rockets have made visited south bend.  Made some nice acquitances, love ya in Portland ron milovich, Jason best, bethel college coach zeth zartman played for Portland. Rockets take 2 out of 3 on the weekend  you win some, you lose some, some are rained out.  Yep that’s what we did

Rockets split Saturday with the Mishawaka brewers losing 4-3 in a heartbreaker, then winning 4-3.  Sunday the rockets after a 45 min delay, beat the south bend cardinals 4-2

Then the thunder, then the lightning, then rain deluxe

19 rocket players and a host of fans, games were competitive and in the balance to the end.

Game one rockets led 3-1 till the bottom of the 6^th when the brewers got to dan bollenbacher and amazingly scored 3 runs –beat us 4-3

Game 2 zach tanner hits a 2 run homer, 2 doubles Dalton tinsley, 3 hits mitch waters, a save by mitch to preserve craig martins win, and  rockets win 4-3.  thanks for the apples mrs. Stahley, tj lindstrands grandma   note craig martin had a one hitter thru 4 inn before giving way to dan borchers from Versailles

Rockets win sun garret scott borchers and waters on the mound, 2 hits by tanner, alex delk and colin Affolder, rbi double Kevin sharpe,

They loaded the bases in the 7^th on borchers, mitch came in for the save, atta  boy

Rocket fans dave post and john bailey now an asst coach for grand lake were on hand,

As we were draining water sun morning working with cardinal players, their second baseman shared his recollection of playing in Portland,  then cooling off at the greazy pickle. They always remember the pickle…..

We sure do appreciate our field at home, a great baseball venue,  we say thanks Portland, the press box, the announcer, love ya Samantha, the music, the lunching pad, the scoreboard,,,,no wonder they remember portland.

Happy birthday this weekend to rockets geoff bowers and Thomas mccowan, and off course, on Saturday to orie poole, the Johnny cash of jay county
rockets win 2 of 3 and now move top 11-3 on the season. Next action at Indiana tech 705  wed vs kekionga  then the july 4^th tourney next weekend.
