July 25, 2016  rockets conclude regular season with twin wins over whitco royals

Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day  in Portland. The Portland rockets played wood bat baseball Sunday at runkle-miller field, and did so in fine fashion,

Rockets defeated the whitco royals, 10-0 and 13-3, both games invoked the mercy rule, that is game over after 5 inn, due to the 10 run rule,\

The whitco royals and the rockets needed some mercy , it was so hot, it was almost as tough to watch as it was to play,

Still a very nice crowd, it was fan appreciation day ---brad miller brought out 4 watermelons for this the last game of the season in Portland.

It is always a nostalgic day for me when the activitiy ends at the corner of western and blaine, lots of memories made, stories to be told, ; Portland rockets win twice and conclude the regular season with a 25-5 record, one of the best in years in Portland,\

We call them the core players, tinsley, geeslin, tanner, waters, delk, bollenbacher, Marrero, lindstrand  these guys have been on board near 6 years, great group of men, record those 6 years 171-50  wow

Speak of nostalgic, we had a collection of former rocket players on hand Sunday, they gathered at home plate and were recognized,  made my day

Ex-pitchers, rob gamble, jim geeslin, john bailey , pete byrum, larry chittum, also mark Flueckiger, mark Hillman, chirs tillery, randy Hisner, it was like a reunion

They saw a good ballclub conduct its baseball business, game 1 dan  the man bollenbacher 5 inn, no hit baseball 5 ks,,the only hit was a pitch hit a royal in the noggin and knocked him out of commission,  the guy is ok but a bit groggy

Dan mowed em down, tinsely tanner and Marrero 2 hits, jagen millspaugh 2 rbi tj lindstrand 2 rbi

Samantha Thomas our orchestra leader from the pressbox, announced 1 hr. 25 min.

Game 2 rockets score 6 runs in the 5^th win 13-3

Garrett scott 4 inn 3 hits dan ground ball borchers finished up

Kevin sharp smacked his 4^th homer of the season, 3 hits tinsley, 2 each geeslin, tanner, waters, and Marrero

Rockets record again, 25-5 and on to the regionals, the national amateur baseball federation tournament in Cincinnati,

It begins wed. winner to world series in battle creek,

Last time we went to roselawn park, we brought home the trophy, in 2012

We still have those core guys,……

Games begin thrus nite, Derek thobe game one starter
