Summer nite in Decatur no rain , just tornado warnings, crazy

Final score rockets lose to Decatur 7-0

Muggy nite indeed but the only unsettling was Decatur pitcher settlemeyer who

Quieted rocket bats on but 3 hits, no runs  rockets were without  3,4 ,5 hitters on this evening,  catcher Justin branock elbow surgery scheduled july 8, matt hitt  moves on to prospect league, concepcion morero  moves to great lakes conference, oh and cleanup hitter riley muhlenkamp has a class for the week.  They caught us shorthanded.

Rocket starter dan bollenbacher gave up one run in 2 innings, he has a major league tryout sun sohis stint was short.  Too bad could have been a real pitchers duel.

As it was we played em tough in 9 inn 2 hours 26 min. but Derek mounsey gave up 3 runs in 3 innings, tyler palmer 3 in 2 innings.

Rockets had 2 on base in both the 3^rd and 7^th innings but a tough call at the plate went decatur’s way on a sliding bryce cook after a wild pitch to nab him at the plate

On the bright side, the rocket defense was pretty awesome, 4 double plays on game

Good for Decatur,  our rivals we smoked em4 tmes last year we outscored them 52-11 in those games . they are a force to be contended with this year. And we look forward to that challenge next wed in Portland. 

Good to have coach mark flueckinger in the rocket dugout rooting the troops on, former rocket on the 85 state championship team, he is now coaching at Huntington university and is a huge connection in the baseball community.

Flick is also expecting his first child and mother-in – law gyneth augsberger of the tourism bureau is a noted Portland fan but a bigger mark and kim fan..  I am proud to call them friends.  Side note,,,,,,,flick loves betty miller’s potato salad

 Rockets haven’t played back to back games all season and are striving to hit their stride

Big opportunity weather permitting thur.  Home game vs Indiana Wesleyan.  Time for Portland to go to bat.  Rockets at home tonite 7pm be there or be rectangular lawn chairs, coolers we have the rocket dogs and popcorn
