Somerset Hills 2 – 2 Locomotion
A tough encounter away from home on a very bumpy field resulted in a share of the points on a fine afternoon for soccer.
Livingston looked likely to take the victory after taking a 2-1 lead with less than 10 minutes to go, but the home side took advantage of a lack of focus and tied it up with a dubious goal. “He definitely pushed me” said Locos GK Tommy Kelly of the stramash which led to the equalizer.
After the game, coach Duddy had these words: “you cannot always rely on the referee to see everything. It’s a tough job and we only have ourselves to blame for allowing the situation to develop. We cannot switch off like that, especially away from home.”
The tie leaves the Locos with 4 points from a possible 6 and a tough away trip to Westfield this coming Sunday. “Westfield teams are notoriously tough to beat – but I’m sure we can cause them some real problems” said Duddy.

A WORD FROM ED…
Scoring goals is great, but statistics show that 90% of goals conceded after taking the lead in U11 soccer are scored within 2 minutes of the first goal.
As a team, you must think of the game as 1-0 to the other team after you score – this gives you the focus to work even harder after the goal.
Let’s ensure this week we focus focus focus!!! |
