PFLUGERVILLE, Texas -- In a game which found 11 of its 12 players scoring, state-ranked Pflugerville cruised to a 75-26 victory over Elgin Thursday morning in the opening round of the Greater Austin Area Tournament played at the Panther Gym.
This three-day tourney, which continues on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19-20, was co-hosted on Thursday (only) by Pflugerville. The remaining games take place at McNeill HS and other Round Rock schools.
Pflugerville, now 3-1, will play its second game of the tourney on Friday (Nov. 19) at 1:30 p.m. against Anderson HS. That game is at McNeill HS.
Against Elgin, the Panthers jumped out to a 20-6 lead after one quarter. Finishing as top Panther scorers were junior forward Itiana Taylor (game-high 13 points), senior Nneka Enemkpali (11 points), junior guard Ari Booth (11 points) and senior forward Deborah Roucloux (10 points).
Taylor logged her first double-double (double figure scoring and rebounding) of the season as she also pulled down a game-best 11 rebounds. She also had four steals. Senior Shoneice Yett had five rebounds.

P'ville JV goes 1-1 in first day of Lampases Varsity Tournament action; Freshmen teams play in Greater Austin Area Tournament
The Pflugerville JV is competing at the Lampasas varsity tournament this weekend, playing "up" a level as the only JV team in this round-robin format against host Lampasas, Burnet, Odessa Permian and Lubbock HS.
Thursday, the Panther JV opened with a 50-25 win over Burnet before suffering its first loss of the year, dropping a 42-39 decision to Odessa Permian. P'ville is now 4-1.
In the pre-determined format, Pflugerville next plays two games on Friday, Nov. 19, in Lampasas, facing Lubbock at 4 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. contest against host Lampasas. This will conclude Pflugerville's tourney games.
Against Burnet, Amy Staha had a game-high 13 points while Diana Omozee added 10 points and five steals. In the Odessa Permian game, the Panthers were paced by Jonelle Smith's 16 points and seven from Staha.
The two Pflugerville freshmen teams - Pflugerville Gold (A team) and Blue (B team) - were in action at the Greater Austin Area Tournament. The Gold squad, playing "up" in the JV bracket of the tourney, picked up two wins to move to 5-0. The Gold team beat Elgin (58-16) and Round Rock (64-31) JV teams.
The freshmen Blue team, in action for the first time this year, went 1-1, losing to Elgin 35-31 and defeating Westwood, 46-13.
