| PFLUGERVILLE-- After jumping out to leads of 16-3 after the first period and 23-4 after the second quarter, the state-ranked Pflugerville girls varsity posted a 68-18 win over Crockett Thursday afternoon in the Panthers' first game of the three-day, 20-team Greater Austin Tournament. The game took place at PHS's Panther Gym and was the first home game of the year for the Panthers, now 4-0. Leading the balanced PHS attack were sophomore forward Itiana Taylor (pictured) with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds and junior post DyMesheon (Dee) Hyder (10 points, eight rebounds). Pflugerville now faces the Thursday night Willis-El Paso Socorro winner at 1 p.m. Friday (Nov. 19) at Round Rock McNeill HS. Chipping in with nine points apiece were sophomore guard Ari Booth and senior forward Christie Mooney while junior forward Adesuwa Ebomwonyi added seven points and nine rebounds. Ebomwonyi also had a season-high seven steals, the most by an P'ville player to date this year. Crockett, now 1-6, turned the ball over 23 times was out-rebounded by the Panthers by a 38-16 margin. Pflugerville had nine turnovers and held a 23-4 edge in steals. Crockett did not attempt a free throw in the game, as P'ville committed just one foul. The Panthers stepped to the foul line 21 times, draining 15 free throws. A total of 41 games are being played in the 20-team, three-day varsity tourney, played on different campuses and hosted by McNeill High School.
