Posted Jan 5/10 - Panthers roll past Austin HS, 72-25, to move to 18-4 overall and stay undefeated in District action
PFLUGERVILLE, Texas -- Behind four players in double-figure scoring, the state-ranked Pflugerville varsity registered a 72-25 victory over District 25-5A opponent Austin High Tuesday evening at the Panther Gym. The win lifts Pflugerville to 18-4 overall and keeps the Panthers undefeated (4-0) in District action. 

Leading the balanced Panther attack was junior guard Curtiesha Woods (pictured) with 17 points and six rebounds off the bench, along with senior forward Christie Mooney (14 points, four rebounds), junior forward Adesuwa Ebomwonyi (10 points, five rebounds) and sophomore forward Itiana Taylor (10 points, game-high eight rebounds). Taylor also had a season-high and game-high seven assists, while Mooney and Ebomwonyi contributed three steals each. Senior post Courtney Cleveland pulled down seven rebounds.

The Panthers jumped out to a 23-5 lead after the first quarter and held a 36-16 edge at intermission.

Pflugerville returns to action on Friday, Jan. 8 when it faces District foe Akins HS at Akins in an 8 p.m. contest.


Pflugerville JV and two Freshman squads pick up wins over Austin HS

The Panther JV and freshman "A" (Gold) squads each improved to 19-1 Tuesday with victories over their respective Austin HS opponent.  

The Pflugerville JV, behind junior post Shari Stewart's game-high 15 points and Jonnelle Smith's 14 points, cruised to a 70-14 victory over the Maroon.

Up 39-9 at intermission, the Pflugerville freshman Gold improved to 4-0 in District action with a 59-15 win over Austin’s top freshman squad.  Post Raven Swain had 19 points, all coming in the first half, while guards Mackenzie Browning added 14 points and Lexi Box had 10.

The Panthers' freshman Blue team posted a 52-18 win over AHS. Amber Harris had a game-high 14 points while Christina Aguilar (13 points) and Destiny Allen (10 points) rounded out the double-figure scorers. The Panther Blue squad is now 4-5 overall and 2-0 in District play.

On Friday, Jan. 8, Pflugerville squares off against Akins HS at Akins. The JV game is set for 6:30 p.m., proceeded by the freshman Gold (A) game at 5:15 p.m.; also at 6:30 p.m., the two freshman Blue teams will face each other. The varsity game tip is set for 8 p.m. at Atkins.
