Lakers defeats Butler County 8-5

Ben Stephens went 3-3 at the plate, sparking Lakers to an 8-5 victory in seven innings over Butler County on Saturday.

He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the third and fifth innings.

Jackson Best got the win in relief for Lakers. Best pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs.

Smoth was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

Butler County jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Graham singled to ignite Butler County's offense, before Phelps singled, plating Ward. The scoreboard lit up again for Butler County when Parker and Phelps scored on a two-run single by Cameron.

Lakers never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Evan Roy, an error, and a two-run single by Stephens.

One run in the top of the sixth helped Butler County close its deficit to 8-5. An RBI double by Burden set off Butler County rally. The Butler County threat came to an end when Best finally got Parker to fly out.
