Kelly - 1 Guzdek - 1 GAME SUMMARIES Game 9: The Sabres played well and earned a hard fought 2-1 win over the Chiefs. The team survived with a win when the ref waived off a potential game tying goal in the last minute. Kevin Kelly netted both of the team's goals, tyuing him with Chris Finley for the team lead with 8. Chris Finley played his first game of the season in goal and turned aside several good scoring chances. Game 8: The Sabres fell to the Americans 6-2. James Esposito and Kevin Kelly netted the goals. Game 7: The Sabres fell to the Americans 8-0. Game 6: The Sabres fell to the Firebirds 5-2. Cameron McManus and Brandon Zacharkow netted the goals. Game 5: The team beat the North Stars 4-2. Chris Finley scored twice, increasing his season total to 8, Kevin Kelly scored for the 5th straight game, and Brandon Zacharkow netted the other goal. Game 4: The Sabres played easily their best overall game of the season in crushing the previously unbeaten Firebirds 7-2. After falling behind 1-0 early, the Sabres took the lead for good when Cris Finley scored two goals in less than 10 seconds. Finely later added another goal to complete his hat trick. Kevin Kelly scored for the fourth straight game and the team got goals from Andrew Bell, Brandon Zacharkow, and Colin Kelly (called up from the minors for the game). William Squares led a strong defensive effort along with Eric Esposito (also called up from the minors), Cameron Mcmanus, and Danny Komiskey. Game 3: The Sabres suffered a 5-3 loss to the Chiefs. The team battled back from a 3-0 deficit, twice cutting the lead to only one goal, but they just couldn't finish the comeback, as two great chances plunked off the goal post. Goals were scored by Chris Finley, Kevin Kelly and Chris Murdock. Game 2: The Sabres bounced back with a convincing 9-2 win over the North Stars. Chris Finley and Pat Kinsley led the way with 2 goals each. The team also got a short handed goal from James Esposito and other goals from Chris Murdock (on a nifty feed from Finley), Jacob Guzdek (on a nifty feed from Murdock), Andrew Bell, and Kevin Kelly. Conor O'Hara allowed only two goals over his two periods in goal and Eddie Horta had a shut out third period. Game 1: The Sabres opened the season with a 7-1 loss to the Americans. Kevin Kelly scored the only goal. Goalie Connor O'Hara played better than the score indicated as several American goals scored on deflections and rebounds. The 3rd and 4th lines lead by Kevin Kelly, Brandon Zacharkow,William Squares, and Alexandra Cunningham hustled hard throughout the game and had several good scoring chances.
