Dear Dirty Dozen and Lady Jacket Legacies:

I think we can all agree that it is past time to establish a formal alumni group geared to support the strongest volleyball and basketball traditions in the state of Alabama.  Like you, many of my fondest high school memories were made on the volleyball and basketball courts at McGill-Toolen Catholic.  What Mrs. D and her successors instilled in all of us has created some of the most successful women in our communities today.  Thank you, Mrs. D, for the endless sacrifices made to provide the foundation for the success of both programs that we know and love today.

In case you have been out of touch, the programs remain as strong as ever, each led by amazingly successful and dedicated alumni to their respective programs.  Gretchen Koppersmith Boykin (class of 1992) is in her 6th year at the reigns of the Dirty Dozen while Carla Berry (class of 1988) is taking over this year for the Lady Jackets.  As most of you are aware, the demands on athletes and coaches today are as high as they have ever been.  And, yes, we can help.

Built on the tradition of excellence and character, the female student-athletes in orange and black have a competitive advantage because of the sacrifices made by so many of you.  However, in an attempt to get our alumni more involved, keeping you informed of the latest news, championships, scholarships signees, etc., we are officially kicking off the first year of the “McT Ladies of Legacy”.  Our number one goal will be to support the Dirty Dozen and Lady Jackets in whatever way possible, keeping informed with the programs, and seeing the tradition of excellence continued well into the future.

We will have annual alumni games where we recognize all of our Dirty Dozen &/or Lady Jacket alumni before a particular game and we plan to continue the alumni / family weekend every 2-3 years, started this year by Coach Carla Berry on July 23rd and 24th.  As a legacy member, you will be informed of the latest going on in each program through a quarterly newsletter and listed in the annual programs supporting both teams.  We invite any and all ideas you may have to get involved and help the programs continue to grow and compete at the highest level.

With priceless memories that will forever be a part of who we are and what we do, please join us in filling out the attached form and become an official member of the 1st class of “McT Ladies of Legacy”.  Again, there is no amount too big or too small.  Our goal is to stay involved and continue to build a program in which we can all be proud.

God Bless and Go Dozen & Lady Jackets,

Candy Nicholas Skipper     Amy Repoll Petruzelli          Lindsey Stuardi Weems      Lori Buhring
