Notes from the River East playoff meeting this week:

Each team is entitled to one 30-second timeout in the playoffs.
The procedure for this will be:  once the coaches decide to request a timeout, they will advise the team Captain or Assistant who will then notify the referee.
The players voted on Captains and Assistants after the practice last Tuesday night.
Captain:  Tyler Page; Assistants:  Ryan Froese, Shawn Beggs, Christien Walby.

As per WMHA rules, teams must be at the arena and ready to play a minimum of 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the game.
Teams are considered ready to play if they have a minimum of 9 uniformed players and 1 rostered coach.
Games will not be cut short in playoffs but the mercy rule still applies.

For Midget A1 the referee will be appointed by WMHA.

Starting lineups are not to be circled, complete the game sheet the same as in the regular season.

Temporary players can only be used in a game if you have a letter from Barb Fee authorizing a specific player for a specific game.

Notification of suspensions is not the responsibility of the convenor of the playoffs or the referees.  It is the responsibility of a team's officials.
If in doubt about a suspension, phone the suspension director (Tim Jeffrey).

Overtime:  in the event of a tie after 3 periods of play, the overtime period will be of the same duration as the first period of the game (15 minutes) and any penalties with time remaining will carry over into overtime.
Teams will get a 2 minute rest and will not change ends.
In the event of a tie after 1 period of overtime, the game will be replayed.
If after 3 periods of play the game is tied the teams will play until a winner has been decided.

There have been several complaints about racial comments during the regular season, mostly at the handshake.
Any player or coach heard making a racial comment at any point before, during, or after a game will be assessed a Gross Misconduct and face suspension.
If a team official or player is ejected from the game for any reason, he must be met at the gate by a team representative who will take official custody of him and remain with him until he is safely in the dressing room.
The ejected player or official's options at that point are to remain in the dressing room or to leave the ice area.  He can not stay in the arena proper to watch the remainder of the game.

Before handshakes at the end of the game, at the conclusion of play, hold the team on the bench until both teams cross to their respective benches & the referee will indicate when to come & shake hands.
