The Suns blew out Brookfield Central Varsity 16-4 on Saturday at Brookfield Central High School after pouring on nine runs in the third inning. The game was back-and-forth heading into the third. The Suns managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. A two-run error scored Eric Bould and Tate Rose and gave the Suns the lead for good. Jake Perez racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Suns. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the third and fifth innings. Collin Kannenberg got the win in relief for the Suns. Collin Kannenberg pitched three innings and allowed no runs. The top of the second saw the Suns take an early lead, 2-0. The Suns got a spark in the form of a Eric Bould triple, before Paul Kaufmann singled, bringing home Eric. The Suns then tacked on more runs when Kaufmann scored on a groundout by Luke Grefsheim. Brookfield Central Varsity answered the Suns top inning with four runs of their own in the second. Brookfield Central Varsity scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Petner and a two-run home run by Riley Richarz. The third spelled defeat for Brookfield Central Varsity, as the Suns grabbed the lead for good. More runners rounded the bases on an error, a passed ball, an RBI single by Matt Schubert, a two-run triple by Jake, and a bases loaded walk by Nick Reimer. The Suns added five more runs in the top of the fifth. Eric kicked things off with a single, scoring Zach Biermann and Jake Perez. That was followed up by Ian Loveland's double, scoring Eric. |
