Game Notes: Hey Braves!

That was a tough game against a VERY hard hitting Astros club! Hats off to them, those kids played good, they’re one of the stronger teams in this league. Maybe we’ll get another shot at them in the tournament!

Leading off was Eli who looked good at the plate, it’s hard hitting leadoff sometimes but he’s the best in the league while leading off for us. Riley had an amazing catch at short and fired 2 shots off at the plate; he always comes to the park ready to play. Ben is a gamer and tonight he was red hot at the plate and in the field. Carson fired one off at the plate and was solid in the field! Leighton had another lights out night at 1st base and looked sharp while up to bat. Spencer went 2 for 2 with a nice line drive and some great plays at short and 2nd. Baylor was perfect at 3rd base and was strong at the plate! Brandon got his shot at catcher and did a great job! We’ll play him more there the rest of the season! Chandler had a great night at the plate and in the field with a hard hit! Garrett was perfect at pitcher and was robbed at first on his base hit! The Ump later apologized for missing that call! He gets the game ball! Jake is the hardest hitter in the league and tonight he tattooed a pitch into the outfield and was pretty darn good in the field too! R.J. had a great night! He smoked a shot into the outfield that scored 2 runs and was perfect in the field! Jason looked like an all-star at the plate and anchored our outfield, which by the way got a lot of work in tonight!

Overall, the difference in the game was they hit the ball and we didn’t hit enough. Weekday games can sometimes be tough, with school and work then trying to make it to the park in traffic for a 6PM game is a task in itself. We’re glad that everyone made it to the park on time and ready to play! No one likes losing, especially me! But we’re seeing some good things in the field and we’re getting better every time we go out there, and as a coach that’s all I can ask for. I think we played better defense today than we did on Saturday. We still need to work on our base running and hitting. We’ll try to get a practice together on Saturday evening if anyone wants to come out, who knows, I might bring the grill out and have a cookout after practice!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe spring break and if you’re traveling, I hope your going to a place that doesn’t have any pine trees and pine pollen!

GO BRAVES!
