| Game Notes: On Sunday (3/29) we played a scrimmage against the Wills Park Titans in abysmal weather. Game time brought cold, windy and damp conditions on a very wet field. As a reminder, the games against Wills Park teams do not count towards our record/league standings. We had only nine boys which meant no one would have to sit. Sean Gant took the mound for the first two innings and did a good job limiting the Titans to only 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 4. Nick LeGates - a true tough guy out there in a short sleeve shirt - made two nice plays at SS including a big stab of a line drive to end the 2nd inning! In the 3rd inning we turned to Nick to pitch. Nick did OK as he got us out of the inning giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk, while striking out 1. He helped his own cause by making a very nice play at P on a ground ball; Kai cuaght a pop-up at 3B to end their threat. Heading in to the bottom of the 3rd we were trailing 5-4 and the Titans pitching and defense fell apart as we sent 13 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs before the game was called with only one out recorded. I'd like to say our bats came alive but the reality was the damage was primarily done via walks and hit batters. It might not have our prettiest win but we'll take it! Game stars will go to Sean (pitched well, got hit by a pitch and came around to score), Nick (for his defense and he, too, got hit by a pitch and scored), Grayson (HBP/scored) and Will (1 hit, 1 BB, 2 Rs)! | ||||||||||
