Vancouver is the better team this day in the Provincial Semi-Finals as they score an unearned run in the 1st inning, only to have the Royals tie in the bottom of the 1st with a solo HR from Berry(3rd of Provincials), and the Mounties answer right back in the 2nd with a solo HR of their own (Sorenson). Royals take lead in bottom of 3rd with lead off double by MacDermid and scores on groundout by Berry, Herod reaches on BB, steals SB on delay steal and scores on RBI double by Royals starting pitcher Joel, only to have the Mounties tie the game in the top of the 4th on another unearned run as Royals commit 2 errors in the field.
Royals Provincial motto was "Think It, Believe It, Execute It" and Royals were outexecuted by tough Vancouver squad who battled on the mound, at the plate, on the basepaths(see Injates), and in the field, and this time Royal's opponent gets the big hit; a bases clearing double in the top of the 5th inning to take a commanding 7-3 lead that they would never relinquish.
This day, the Royals don't get enough baserunners, don't execute to their standards in the field(4 errors)(Kitamura 3/5 throwing base runners out as Royals steal Vancouver signals..nose indicator, belt steal...and call 2 pitchouts to help give Kitamura a chance), don't get enough timely hits. Game over, season over. Nice effort but...
Joel battles hard on the mound all day, all weekend, all season long for the Royals. (L).
