Groskreutz, Metz (3), & Kelley (4) Eastview finished off pool play with a split on the day. In the morning game, the Lightning fell to the Bloomington Bombers 11-5 after falling behind 10-0. The Lightning had ten hits and were led on offense by Voss (SB, RBI), Groskreutz (SB, RS), Brodeur (RBI 2B), & Granat (2 SB) -- all reached base twice. As usual, the Lightning defense let them down by yielding 7 unearned runs and committing six errors. Eastview was eliminated from the Quarterfinals when Jordan defeated Lakeville South. In the afternoon game, the Lightning got up 8-0 early and held on for a 15-8 victory moving back to .500 on the season. It was truly an offensive team effort as everybody on the Lightning roster scored a run and there were 15 stolen bases. The defense got back on track by committing only two errors and didn't give up an unearned run. The Lightning have Sunday off before traveling to Faribault. Eastview just defeated Faribault on Wednesday 9-3 so you can expect Faribault will want to get back at the Lightning. Eastview is expected to send Lucas Anderson (2-0, 2.44) to the mound to keep the Lightning above .500 in league play. Metz (W, 1-0) Kelley (SV, 2) |
