Anderson & Kelley (6) Eastview got back to their winning ways as they defeated Faribault 9-3. After falling behind 1-0 early, the Lightning struck for 9 runs in the fourth inning to take an eight run lead. Faribault got two more runs to cut the deficit to six by the time the game ended. The Lightning moved to 5-4 in league play and 7-6 on the season before heading to Lakeville this weekend for a woodbat tournament. On this night, Eastview was led by Anderson (5 IP, 11 K, 1 ER) who pitched very well on the mound, while mainly throwing fastballs for strikes. Faribault couldn't catch up to Anderson's cheese on this night. Eastview was led on offense by Kelley (2 RS, 2B), Spika (BB, RBI, SB), & Brodeur (RS, RBI). The highlight of the night was by Luke Groskreutz (3 H, SB) who hit 2-out grand slam in the fourth inning, moving the lead from 5-1 to a much more comfortable 9-1. Kelley came in to pitch the last two innings as he and Anderson combined to hold Faribault to only 5 hits in their 7 innings at the plate. Eastview opens vs Jordan on Friday night in the Lakeville Tournament and will send Joe Stofferahn (1-0, 3.75) to the mound in his second start on the season. His first start of the season was a CG shutout vs cross-town rivals Apple Valley. First pitch is set for 6pm. Anderson (W, 2-0) |
