Notes:
Stofferahn Eastview (11-17-1) defeated Burnsville 7-3 in a thriller of a game. The Lightning jumped on top early 2-0 after an inning with just 1 hit. In the 2nd inning after a leadoff 1B from Metz (3 H, RBI 2B), Brechlin (2 H, RS) got a bunt 1B, and then Anderson followed that with a sacrifice bunt and an error as the pitcher threw it away. They ended up scoring two runs to double their lead to 4-0. After the Blaze battled back to make it 4-3, Eastview tallied 3 more runs in the 7th to give their pitcher some cushion. Kelley (2 RBI, RS) drove in Granat (SB, RBI) on a 3-0 double. After an error, Reller (BB) laid down an excellent squeeze to get a 2nd run across. With a runner on 2nd and 2 outs, Metz smoked a double over the center fielder's head to push the lead to 7-3. All the offense needed though came from the first two innings as Stofferahn (2 ER, 3 K) shut Burnsville down for only 7 hits and 3 walks in his 2nd complete game on the season. With the win, the Lightning put themselves in good position to finish at .500 in league play if they win their last two games. Eastview takes a few days off before traveling to down 35 for the Owatonna Tournament. First game is set for 6pm Friday at Willow Creek West vs Mankato. Mankato has placed in multiple tournaments this season and should be a tough test for the Lightning. It sounds like Brady Kelley (1-4, 3.60) will receive his 5th start on the season as Eastview hopes to win back-to-back games for only the 4th time this season. Stofferahn (W, 2-3) |
