HARD FOUGHT TIE Barneveld got on the board quickly when four of their first five batters scored as a result of walks, a hit batter, a timely placed fly to left center field by D. Schult, and a single by K. Kirch. In the second inning, numerous errors by Pecatonica's in-fielders allowed Barneveld to increase its score to 7 runs total, while defensively holding Pecatonica to a single run. But Pecatonica would rally in the 3rd and 4th innings both offensively and defensively. In the bottom of the 3rd, with two runners on base, C. Anderson powered a triple base hit to left center field. A single by A. Kovacs and a double by L. McKeon sent two more runners across the plate in the 3rd. Then in the bottom of the 4th, S. McVay's double to left field knocked in the final two runs to tie the game. And that's the way the score would remain through the next two inning, and even after going into overtime. The game was called a draw after both teams failed to score in the 7th inning. |
