Smith, Buck (3), Perlenfein (4) & Furnstahl (5) Eastview (20-12-1) dropped an ugly one 11-1 to Belle Plaine. The Tigers jumped to an early lead following a leadoff double. An error led to another run, this one unearned. With the score still 2-0 going to the 4th, Belle Plaine put up 8 runs to put the game out of hand. There were 3 Lightning errors in the inning and 4 free passes by the pitchers. Even though the Tigers only outhit the Lightning by 3, it was the defense that was the story to the game. Belle Plaine played flawless defense and Eastview played anything but. With the loss, the Lightning need to defeat Minneapolis by 13 or hope for some help from East Ridge. Scott Perlenfein (5-3, 2.52) will get the start against the Millers for the second time on the season. In 9 innings pitched against them, he has given up only 5 hits and 3 earned runs, while punching out 9 guys. "Scooter" will be looking for some of that same success in the last game of pool play for the State Tournament. Game time is set for 1030am at the BEAUTIFUL JCRP #7 field. Smith (L, 3-3) |
