Eastview (24-13-1) dropped a tough one to EP Black in 8 innings by a 3-2 score. The Eagles had 2-out and 0-on before an infield hit and stolen base set the table for the Eagles 3 hitter who drove in the winning run. The story of the day was pitching and defense by both squads. Their was only 1 error and 2 walks committed between the two teams as it took only an hour to get through the first six innings. After Eden Prairie took the lead, Chris Ferber (BB, RS), who's return was questionable, led off the 4th with a triple and later scored on a Buck (2 H), also questionable, single. That was the lone Lightning run as they stranded runners in scoring position in the 2nd, 4th and 7th. Scott Perlenfein (2 K, 2 ER) scattered 6 hits and only gave up one run in 7 innings as he kept the hitters off balanced with a fastball--curveball combination. Chris Ferber took his first loss on the season after giving up three weak grounders before the game-winning double. Since Ferber (5-1, 2.86) didn't throw many pitches, it is expected that he will take the start against a tough Shoreview squad, who is seeded 5th. Due to a rain postponement, the game time is set for 8am.
