Perlenfein Eastview (11-7) lost to league leading Minneapolis 3-2. The Millers moved to 8-0 in league while the Lightning fell to 3-4 and into 5th place. Both teams had only 5 hits on offense but the difference was that the Millers were walked 3 times and got beaned twice, while the Lightning only walked once. Perlenfein (3 ER, 5 K) went the distance for the second time this season and kept the game close while he received 0 runs of offense for 5 innings. With the score 3-0 in the 6th, Smith (RS) re-entered for a PH single and Buck (RS) followed that up with another single. After a groundout advancing both runners, Grimm (2 H, 3 SB) knocked both of them in with a clutch 2-out single to get the Lightning within a run. After 2 steals, Eastview had the tying run on 3rd base but could not get him in. After Perlenfein threw up another 0, Frojd led the 7th off reaching on an error. After a sacrifice bunt, The next 2 hitters both chased first pitches and flew out to end the game. Eastview has now lost 2 in a row after winning 7 straight. They come back with another league game Thursday against district rivals Apple Valley, who is currently 1-4 in league. The Lightning beat them 5-1 last Thursday and hope to repeat that success and get back on the winning side of things. Game time is set for 515pm. Perlenfein (L, 4-2) |
