Buck, Perlenfein (5) & Smith (5) Eastview (14-10-1) fell to St Anthony for the second time in league play, this time on a walkoff 4-3 loss. St Anthony's only two wins in the league on the season have been against Eastview. The Lightning were held to one first inning hit on the evening and didn't have another hit on the evening. The problem of looking strikeouts continued with nearly half of the 7 punch outs coming with bats on the shoulders. The Lightning staff struggled with the zone as they committed 8 walks and hit a batter. The Lightning battled in the 7th when they were down 1. After a HBP and a BB, the pitcher balked the runners up into scoring position. A sacrifice fly from Foy tied the game up and on the next pitch, Ferber stole 3rd base but the umpire (who had a brother on the opposing team) called him out, killing any sort of rally. St Anthony got the batter for the 3rd out and St Anthony had all 4 guys reach in the bottom of the inning to win the game on a walkoff single. Eastview hasn't won back-to-back games in two weeks and are really struggling to play consistent baseball. They still have a half game lead of 3rd place but the schedule gets a lot harder with a few games against league leading Prior Lake in the next two weeks. Smith (L, 2-2) |
