BIG LAKE -- Eastview (9-4) won a pair of games on the nicest day of the spring, which did not have a cloud in the sky. In game one, the Lightning defeated Sibley East 3-1. McDevitt (2 RS, BB, RBI) hit a 2-out double in the first. After a wild pitch and a walk, Dickson stole 2nd and McDevitt stole home to push one across. In the 5th, with the score tied at 1's, Leighton (RS) had a 1-out walk. Following a groundout advancing him to second, McDevitt drove him in with a 2-out single. With McDevitt on 2nd, Dickson drove him in with another 2-out knock. The score stood true as Selchow came into the 7th to get the save. After striking out the first two, the next two hitters reached base, allowing the winning run to come to the plate. A lazy fly ball closed the game out. Dickson started the game on the mound and only allowed 1 earned run in the first. In 6 innings of work, he struck out 9 before giving way to Selchow.

In game two, the Lightning again jumped on the board in the top of the first. Leighton hit a leadoff triple and scored on a groundour. McDevitt followed up with a double but was stranded there. In the 3rd, McDevitt led off with a single, moved to second on a Selchow single, and scored on a McLean double down the LF line. With two runners in scoring position and 1 out, Terlizzi hit a SAC fly to right, advancing both runners. In the 5th, Eastview put up one more to make it 4-1, once again starting with a McDevitt single. In the bottom of the 6th, Hopkins got the first two guys on and then made it a 4-3 game with a 2-run double. Stockwell (5 IP, 3 ER, 4 K) gave way to Johansen. Following a SAC bunt, Hopkins took the lead 5-4 with three straight singles. Eastview began the 7th with a leadoff walk by Johansen. After a bunt popout, Dickson reached base on a hit by pitch. Selchow came up with the tying and leading runners aboard. He hit a deep drive to right, driving in both runners and taking the lead. Following another hit by pitch and stolen base, Terlizzi knocked in two more runs to give the Lightning some cushion with a 3-run lead. Johansen took down the Royals in order in the 7th to end the game. With the wins, Eastview has won 9 of 11 and puts itself in a "win and in" situation with tomorrow morning's pool play finale vs Mahtomedi. The Zephyrs defeated Sibley East 14-3 and there was no report of the score vs Hopkins at this time. Alex Bangh (2-0, 2.63) will take the ball for his 3rd start of the season as he hopes to push the Lightning into the semifinals. Game time is set for 1015am at Field 7 in Big Lake.

Johansen (W, 2-1)
