Bangh BIG LAKE -- Eastview (10-4) defeated Mahtomedi 6-4 in the final game of pool play. With the win, Eastview takes Pool D's top spot in the semifinals. Mahtomedi came into the game having a +24 run differential in pool play, while the Lightning were a +6. After giving Mahtomedi an early run, Eastview stormed back for 4 in the 2nd to take the lead. With 1 out, Bangh singled and Stockwell walked. Terlizzi reached on an error, Leighton walked, and McDevitt reached on an error. Selchow drove in Leighton to push the last run across. After the Zephyrs put up another run, Eastview also got one of their own. With 2 outs, Stockwell walked and Terlizzi drove him in on a double to the right center gap. The Zephyrs scored 2 to make it 5-4 and it stayed that way until the 6th. McDevitt led off with a walk and Augustin came off the bench for a pinch hit SAC bunt with an injured finger. Dickson drove in the insurance run with a double. Eastview held off Mahtomedi in the 7th and ended the game with a double play -- their second of the game. Bangh went the distance in the win, allowing only 3 hits and 3 walks. He moved to 3-0 on the season with today's victory. Eastview plays Pool C's winner in the semifinals. Jonny Selchow (1-2, 2.68) gets the ball in hopes of clinching a state tournament bid. Game time is set for 245pm. Bangh (W, 3-0) |
