Johansen & McDevitt (3) APPLE VALLEY -- Eastview (0-1) began its season just as cold as the weather was. On Opening Night 2011, the temperatures were in the high 30's to low 40's but it did not seem that bad because the recent winds had calmed down by first pitch. Jordan Johansen got the start on the bump and couldn't get out of a 3rd inning jam. He walked 4 and struck out 3 while only giving up a 2-out triple in the first as the lone hit. Cole McDevitt (8 K, 0 ER, 1 H) came in to stop the bleeding in the 3rd and threw the next 4 frames only giving up 2 runs. The Lightning were continually hurt by their lack of control on the mound and their poor defense (6 walks, 4 errors). The bats never awoke but they finally got on the board in the 7th inning with a 2-out single by McDevitt (3 BB, SB) who scored Bangh (2 SB, 1B). As bad of a game as the opener was, the Lightning still came to the plate in the 7th with the tying run in the on deck circle. After a day off Tuesday, Eastview is scheduled to face Prior Lake at 8pm on Wednesday at Legion Field. Probable starter is Jacob Wilson, who would be making his first start on the season.
