Game Notes: As the old saying goes, "It's nice to be in the comforts of home". The game between host Patrick Henry and foe Northside disproved the theory. Patrick Henry had a difficult time getting things going against Northside's starting pitcher Trent Cundiff. "Trent struggled with his command but we could not capatilize on his walks. We started out being patient but gave in to the desire to hit." Head Coach Aaron Haigler said. The visiting Vikings were able to push one run across off PH starter Kemper Steffe. Dragging 1 run, PH pushed two across in the 1st and 2nd innings to take an early 4-3 lead. After going up 5-3, the Patriots gave up 4 runs sandwiched between a few hits and errors by the defense. After 5 complete and a pitching change for the Patriots, PH was down 8 - 5 and could not put together a late charge. Steffe picked up his first loss and first career start in the days action. Despite the loss, Patrick Henry made some brilliant defensive plays as Yates Sayers and Gary Fitzgerald made plays deep in the holes of SS and 2B. "We made two tremendous plays in the field but struggle to make the routine plays. Those plays extended the innings for Northside and allowed them to push the lead." added Haigler. "We have to catch and throw the ball. At Glass and FC, we did that and came out with a win. We dodged a few bullets at GW last night but took care of the ball for the most part and picked up a win." said Haigler of the defense. "Our pitching staff will keep us in games but we must make the plays behind them." said Haigler. At the plate, PH was lead by Sophomore DH Zach Whitaker (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) and Senior Yates Sayers (2-4, 2B). Also adding hits were Chad Osterhaus who recorded his first varsity hit and RBI, on a line double into the left-center gap plating Sayers from second base, along with Kemper Steffe and Brad Sowers with each reaching on singles.

Up next for the Patriots will be Northside in back-to-back days. Patrick Henry will travel to Northside with first pitch slated for 5:00. The Patriots will then take advantage of some days off as they prepare for the spring break trip to Charlotte, North Carolina. In Carolina, the Patriots will take on Charlotte Catholic High School in double header action at Wingate University. Both JV and Varisty will play double headers with JV playing at Jack Huges Park (Pineville, North Carolina) on Friday, April 17 and Varisty on Saturday, April 18 at Wingate University. JV's will begin at 1:00 with Varsity first pitch at high noon. This will be third series between these program with each school posting a 2-2 mark.
