Augustin & Bangh (3) APPLE VALLEY -- Eastivew (2-2) had a come-from-behind win over Northfield on the first nice day for baseball. With temperatures in the high 70's to low 80's at first pitch, the Lightning started hot after a one-out triple by McLean (3 H, 3 RS, 2 RBI) who scored on a ground out by Selchow (2 RS, 3B, 2 RBI). After 5 straight Northfield runs (on one hit), Eastview chipped away with runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings to pull away with the victory. In the 4th, Dickson (2 RS, 2 RBI, BB) led off with a single and after two straight outs, Wilson & Leighton (RS, BB, 2 RBI) had back-to-back singles to bring him home. In the 5th, Eastview had 5 straight hits to put two runs across to pull within one run at 5-4. The 6th inning is when the Lightning pulled away with 9 runs. They had 7 straight runners reach base to begin the inning as 8 of the 9 hitters in the order reached base by the time the inning ended. With Eastview playing with only 9 guys, everyone had at least 1 hit and 5 guys had multiple hits on the day as everyone helped out offensively. The story of the day was Alex Bangh coming in relief of Augustin (1 H, 3 K, 1 ER) in the 3rd inning. Bangh, in his first 2011 appearance, got the final 13 outs with 7 punch outs while not allowing a walk or a run. With the win, Eastview has won two straight to pull even at 2-2 on the season in league play. They have a week off before traveling to Lakeville North next Tuesday. The Panthers are currently sitting at 1-0, defeating Burnsville 5-4 last week. Game time is set for 6pm at King #2. The probably starting pitcher for Eastview is Cole McDevitt (0-0, 0.00), who would be making his first start and third appearance). Bangh (W, 1-0) |
