APPLE VALLEY -- Eastview (12-5) bounced back quickly after losing in the tournament championship to defeat district rival Rosemount in league play by a score of 13-12. With the Irish being the home team on Eastview's field, the Lightning took the lead in the top of the 1st with a 2-out McDevitt (3 RS, 3 BB) double and Selchow single (3 H, 2 RS). After Rosemount scored the next 5 runs, Eastview put up a 3-spot in the third, all with 2 outs. McDevitt walked before a Selchow single and Dickson (2 RS, 2 RBI) drove in the first run. Johansen (BB, 3 RBI, RS) singled in the next two. After the Irish scored, Eastview came back with another 2-out knock with Leighton's (RS, 2 H) RBI double. Eastview took the lead in the 5th with a 2-out error to bring in a run and then a double by McLean (2 RBI) to bring in the second. Rosemount tied up the game before Eastview put a 6 spot up in the 6th. Terlizzi singled and Leighton reached on a bunt single before a McDevitt walk. After a strikeout, Dickson singled in a run, Johansen walked in a run, and Bangh hit a 2-run double. McLean battled from an 0-2 count to put the ball in play for an RBI groundout. Rosemount battled for the next 5 runs but left the tying run on 2nd and winning run on first to end the game. Eastview continued their hot hitting with 13 more hits. 8 guys either scored a run or drove in a run. The pitchers all stepped up after McDevitt was scratched from his start. After Augustin struggled in the 1st, Leighton gave the Lightning some much-needed innings before giving way to Terlizzi who pitched into the 7th. Wilson shut the door with the tying run on base in the last inning to get the save. If the Lightning are going to make a deep run in tournaments this season, their pitching depth will be tested and tonight they prevailed. With the win, Eastview has a 1.5 game lead on 4th place Shakopee but stay 1.5 games behind Lakeville North and Mankato, both tied at 8-2 for first place. After taking Wednesday off, Eastview travels to New Prague for their only game scheduled against the Trojans on the season. It is expected that the Lightning go with a number of pitchers to keep everyone fresh for the weekend's tournament. Game time is set for 7pm at D.R.S. Field.
