Game Notes: Patrick Henry made a long cold trip down to George Washington Danville for their third Western Valley District game. The Patriots are riding a two game win streak as played host GW Danville Eagles. Hoping to build off great game againist Franklin County the Patriots captured their third win in the district. Patrick Henry was paced on the mound by Sophomore Zach Whitaker who picked up his second district win in as many starts. "Zach pitched a great game. He is beginning to develop into a good high school pitcher." Head Coach Aaron Haigler said. "He [Whitaker] had good control of all his pitches tonight. When he is on, he is tough to beat. I like that he works quickly and waste little time on the mound." added Haigler. At the plate, the Patriots were lead by Sophomore Aaron Burton who went 2-2 with a single and double. "AB is going to be a good high school hitter. he has a good approach and is adjusting the the speed of the game better each at bat." said Haigler. Along with leading PH at the plate, Burton made some really nice plays down at third base. "Aaron really takes pride in playing defense. Everyday at practice, he is always the dirtiest kid..he goes full speed and is a hard nosed player." Haigler said of Burton. Also producing at the plate was Senior Yates Sayers. With Sayers's triple, PH now has a tally in every offensive column. With the triple lasst night, Sayers continued his offensive attack. "The word will quickly spread about Sayers ability to hit. He will be an offensive threat as we move on through the season." added Haigler. Despite the win, PH made some crucial errors in the field (4 errors) but Whitaker was able to quickly put out the Ealges with stops on the mound. "I told the players the mistakes we made are physical mistakes and are correctable. We botched two double play balls to get us out of the inning but were able to quill any late charge by the Eagles." Haigle said. Altogether, the Diamond Patriots played well, GW may say not good enough to win, but when the dust settled Patrick Henry came away with the victory. "Its always nice to win on the road, especially at GW. The fans are tough and though young, GW always plays well against Patrick Henry." added Haigler. With the win at GW Danville, the Patriots improve to 3-0 in Western Valley play and move to 3-4 overall on the season.

Next up for the Patrtiots will be cross town rival Northside Vikings. The Varisty will play host to Northside on April 8 and then travel to Northside on April 9. Game time for both days will be 5:00.
