BIG LAKE -- Eastview (11-4) defeated Elk River in an absolute thriller 15-14. With the score 1-1 after 1, Elk River exploded for a 6-run second inning. Eastview battled back by getting within 3. Stockwell (2 RS) singled and Johansen (3 RS, 2 RBI, 3B, 2B) drove him in with a triple. Ibeneme (2B, 2 RBI) drove him in with a double. After a Terlizzi single (4 1B, 2B, 2 RBI), Leighton (BB) drove in Ibeneme. After shutting down Elk River, Eastview took the lead by scoring 4 in the 3rd. Following an error, McDevitt drove in a run with a double and moved to 3rd on a Stockwell single. Following another error, Ibeneme singled and Terlizzi drove in the last run. Eastview pushed its lead to 12-7 with another big inning. Selchow (3 H, RBI) and McDevitt (2B, 2 RBI) led off with singles and Stockwell moved them both up with a SAC bunt. Bangh (2 RS, SB) squeezed in Selchow successfully and beat out the throw. Johansen drove in McDevitt with a double and Ibeneme grounded out, scoring Bangh. With 2-out, Terlizzi drove in Johansen with a single. After Elk River scored another run, the Lightning one-upped them with two of their own. Following a leadoff walk and single, Selchow drove in a run with a single and McDevitt hit a SAC fly to bring in the other to make the score 14-8. Elk River wouldn't back down as they tied the game in the 6th with their second 6-run inning of the game. With 1 out, Johansen reached second base on a throwing error, moved to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch. With McDevitt pitching in the 7th, Elk River led off with a single. A wild pitch and ground out moved the tying run to 3rd. However, a flyout and a ground out ended the game with the Lightning advancing to the championship game. The championship game will be held at approximately 545pm against St Michael, who is also undefeated on the weekend. Tanner Leighton (1-0, 5.24) makes his first start of the season.
