Game
Notes:
A bit of overconfidence seemed to affect the Pecatonica players as they took the home field against a younger Bellville team.
Although the game remained scoreless after the first two innings, the visiting Bellville 4th-graders would take the lead in the 3rd and never relinquish it.
In the 3rd, an error and a walk helped Bellville score its two runs. A double and a single would provide a third run in the 4th. Pecatonica would answer back with a trio of singles by N. Loyd, J. Hendrickson, and J. Melvin, which brought in one run and netted Melvin an RBI.
In the 5th, Bellville would capitalize on numerous fielding errors to increase the lead with another four runs. And a final run for Belville would cross the plate in the 6th inning after a batter walked with bases loaded.
Pecatonica had one last chance to win in the bottom of the 6th, and the batters got off to a good start when A. Kovacs made it to base on balls, followed by N. Loyd's single to left field. J. Scoville would reach first on a fielder's choice when the pitcher tried to get Kovacs out at third, but errored. J. Hendrickson's grounder to shortstop earned him an RBI when the catcher dropped the ball in an attempt to out Kovacs at home plate. J. Melvin next single would bring Loyd across the plate for the Vikings' third and final run of the game, as Pecatonica fell short by 5 runs.
