Notes:
Devine The Lightning defeated Owatonna in the last game of pool play in the State Tournament by a score of 12-7. Eastview avoided going winless in their second straight tournament and gained some momentum with playoffs starting Monday. After falling behind by five runs the Lightning came back with five of their own with a leadoff walk and error for Stark and Velin. After a popout, Higgins delivered a 2-rbi triple down the line and Vossen followed with an rbi double. The Lightning scored two more runs with two outs with a Ritacco rbi double and then an Edsten rbi single. They manufactured a run in the 5th to take a lead and then lost the lead in the very next half inning. However, instead of letting up they came back with a rally. Vossen led off with a walk and stole second base. After a flyout, Ritacco and Anderson reached base. Christian followed with an rbi single. Then with two outs, Velin delivered an rbi single to take the lead and stole second base. Woods had a 2-rbi single and then Higgins brought Woods in with an rbi double. The Lightning were up five runs and Devine finished the 7th for a complete game, only Eastview’s third on the season. Everyone contributed in the solid game for the Lightning who were desperate for some momentum. They have tomorrow off before coming back against Prior Lake in the first round of the playoffs. They lost 4-3 against them earlier this season in the Belle Plaine Tournament. Higgins takes the ball for the first time since June 23rd. Devine (W, 1-2) |
