Game Notes: Monticello capitalized on a couple singles and some fielding errors to get on the scoreboard with three runs to start the game, but the Vikings took back the lead in the bottom of the 1st thanks to some heavy hitting. J. Scoville, D. Conwell, J. Melvin and T. Gilson all slapped the ball into the outfield for doubles, which earned Conwell, Melvin, and Gilson one RBI each. N. Loyd also had an RBI on his single, and G. Daley earned an RBI on a sacrifice.

Starting pitcher, N. Loyd allowed two walks in the top of the 2nd, but neither reached home as one base runner was put out on a fielder's choice, and another was caught stealing at third (the throw from catcher N. Gilbertson to third baseman J. Scoville). N. Loyd struck out a batter for the third out.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Pec would increase its lead by five thanks to a double by J. Tollakson, RBI-earning singles by N. Loyd and D. Conwell, and a sacrifice by N. Gilbertson.

In the 3rd, Pec's Gilbertson-Scoville combination between home plate and third base would help hold Monticello to only two runs as two more Monticello base runners would be caught trying to steal third. The final out was a strikeout, pitched by N. Loyd.

Then Pec. batters would stretch the lead with six more runs off RBI-earning hits by J. Scoville (double), D. Conwell (single), J. Melvin (single for 2 RBIs), and N. Gilbertson (triple for 2 RBIs).

In the 4th, Monticello faced relief pitcher S. Swenson whose curve ball kept all but two Monticello batters off the bases; one reached first on a single, the other on a fielding error, but neither would score. In the bottom of the 4th, Pec's only run would be S. Swenson who walked to first, advanced to third on J. Tollakson's double, and then stole home on a passed ball.

Down by eleven in the top of the 5th, Monticello batters had one final chance to close the gap. Only one of four batters would reach first base, and that was because he was hit by a pitch. After the other three struck out, the game was called on the 10-run-rule.
