| Game Notes: On Saturday the boys continued their impressive start in handing the Storm a 9-6 defeat in our first six inning game of the year. Our pitching was outstanding as Nick, Dylan and Sean limited our opponent to five hits while recording 4 strikeouts. Colin, Nick, Sean and Jack R all made multiple plays in the field as the Storm did a good job putting the ball in play. Our catchers were huge, as both Sean and Jack R gunned down runners at 3B, effectively killing potential rallies; Max and Nick were on the receiving end of those throws and did a great job catching the ball and getting the tag down. Our outfielders did a great job for the second game in a row both with making attempts at catches and getting the ball in quickly and accurately. Kai and James both stood out in this area! While we didn't collect a bunch of hits - only five - we coaxed nine walks and took full advantage when we got on base. Jack A had two big hits, Grayson had a sacrifice fly driving in a run, James drove in a huge run late in the game (driving in Nick who legged out a single to RF) and Colin got a hit and scored a run. Truly a total team effort today, and the team was rewarded with all 11 players receiving stars! Game ball was awarded to Nick, who did a yeoman's job toeing the rubber today after his struggles last time out. Well done Sand Gnats! | ||||||||||
